Paul Finn rows in the Thames Nelson Flotilla (20/09/2005)
|
The Thames Nelson Flotilla is a re-creation of the funeral procession of Lord Nelson. It was held as part of the 200th anniversary commemorations of Lord Nelsons victory at the battle of Trafalgar.
On the 16th September 2006 the Thames Nelson Flotilla followed the original route from Greenwich to Westminster that was taken by the original procession on the 8th January 1806.
HMS Victory’s Cutter was leading the procession amongst other vessels, and was followed by numerous oared craft and other vessels. Amongst the oared crafts was Bede Haven, one of Bude Pilot Gig Club’s boats. Practice Manage, Hilary Finn was also there in the Cox’s seat.
It was a privilege to row in such a momentous event.
